We do not collect sensitive personal data such as health, biometric, or financial information.

We process your data based on:

  • Contract: To provide the game service you requested
  • Consent: For optional features like marketing communications
  • Legitimate interests: For analytics and service improvement

We use your data to:

  • Provide and maintain the game service
  • Calculate and display rankings and leaderboards
  • Send match updates and important notifications
  • Improve and optimise the app experience
  • Respond to support requests

5. Advertising

Kickgeist is a free, ad-supported service. We use third-party advertising partners:

  • Google AdMob for displaying advertisements
  • Advertising partners may collect device identifiers (IDFA/GAID)

You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings. Invite mates to earn ad-free time.

6. Data Sharing

We share data only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers: Supabase (hosting), Google AdMob (advertising)
  • Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect rights
  • Public rankings: Your username and scores are visible on leaderboards

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

7. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your residence, including the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, and adequacy decisions where applicable.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Prediction history is retained for ranking purposes during the World Cup 2026 tournament. After the tournament ends, we will retain data for a maximum of 12 months unless you request earlier deletion.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data
  • Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
  • Object: Object to certain processing activities

10. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting [email protected]. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

11. Children's Privacy

Kickgeist is designed to be family-friendly and safe for all ages.

  • Users must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in some EU countries)
  • Users under the applicable age require parental consent
  • We do not knowingly collect data from children without consent

Age-Based Ad Serving

Upon first use of the app, you will be asked to confirm your age. Based on your response, we configure our ad partner (Google AdMob) to serve age-appropriate advertisements:

  • For users under 13: We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) by disabling behavioural targeting and personalised advertising. We do not collect or transmit your advertising identifier.
  • For users 13 and older: We may serve a broader range of advertisements, including personalised ads based on your app usage.

Your age response is stored securely and is never shared with third parties. We do not collect your name, email, or other personal information during this process.

12. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), secure storage with access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

13. Regional Privacy Rights

European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation including access, rectification, erasure, data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, opt out of sales (we do not sell data), and non-discrimination for exercising rights.

Brazil (LGPD)

Brazilian users have rights under the Lei Geral de Protecao de Dados including access, correction, anonymisation, portability, and deletion of personal data.

Canada (PIPEDA)

Canadian users have rights under PIPEDA to access their personal information, challenge its accuracy, and withdraw consent for its collection, use, or disclosure.

South Korea (PIPA)

Korean users have rights under the Personal Information Protection Act including access, correction, deletion, suspension of processing, and objection to automated decision-making.
